I did a fresh install of Debian Etch on a Dell Latitude D510 today. The default installer packages were Standard, Laptop, and Desktop. Easy, I didn’t feel like building up from the base system today. The only hitch was getting the wireless set up. The installer puts the right modules in (ipw2200, ieee80211 and ieee80211_crypt), but the firmware needed to run the card is not included. Thank licensing issues for that. Anyway, go here, download the latest firmware, untar it and copy the files to /lib/firmware. Reboot, then check out Network Manager to connect to an AP.
